Funnily enough, Packrat, as I was sat around the campfire with several of my latex-related friends, discussing the virtues of the swimming cap I recalled 5 things my great-grandfather said to me, as he carressed a balloon on his deathbed. "Merl", he said, "There's five polar bear facts you must know! These are:

All polar bears are not left-handed- it's a myth, most bears use each paw about the same amount!

Polar bears don't have white hairs but clear hairs that seem white because they reflect the sun.

A polar bear can eat up to 86 penguins in a single feast.

Some polar bears have blubber that is 10cm thick so that they quickly overheat when they run!

and....... in all recorded history, only 19 people have been killed by polar bears in Russia.

And with that he died instantly and then exploded!

I don't know why he told me these facts but I do know that they have come in useful on hundreds of occassions throughout my life. When I told my dominatrix about this she quickly whipped me and told me not to be such a naughty boy...but that's another story!

I had heard most of these fact before (as there are polar bears in Canada too), but this one about penguins isn't right. The only time a polar bear would ever be near a penguin would be in a zoo (polar bears - north pole, penguine - south pole).

But you knew that, right? You were just checking that we were paying attention.

My great grandfather was speaking hypthetically! He meant that IF polar bears and penguins lived together a polar bear could eat the equivalent of 86 penguins (or 258 cats)! He was a very profound man...who loved polar bears...I'm sure he meant no harm to penguins...or that's what the court verdict said!

Do you doubt his words of wisdom, Bawdyn? Shame on you! Dissing my ancestors......he would turn in his latex grave!

I don't think the polar bears would be able to get the wrappers off the penguins.

Anyway here's a penguin at the south pole.
